Yesterday, Galeries Lafayette kicked off “Christmas on Another Planet” with STAR WARS ™ as an exceptional guest…
To the delight of visitors of all ages!
BB-8, the brand-new droid hero of STAR WARS: THE REVEIL OF THE FORCE, launched the illumination of the tree under the Galeries Lafayette Cupola and the Christmas windows, accompanied by Philippe Houzé (Chairman of the Galeries Lafayette Group), Nicolas Houzé (Managing Director Galeries Lafayette), Guillaume Houzé (Director of Image and Communication Galeries Lafayette), Agnès Vigneron (Director of the Haussmann store) and Jean-François Camilleri (President of The Walt Disney Company France). A 25-metre-high Christmas tree, made of gold and silver meteorites and dematerialized under a shower of stars, will be on display for the public to discover at the end of the year. On Boulevard Haussmann, a unique event took over to celebrate the kick-off of Galeries Lafayette’s “Christmas from Another Planet” with STAR WARS™as an exceptional guest. 75 artists gave birth to a spectacular show featuring a parade of Imperial troops, Jedi training, a droid parade, all sublimated by impressive stunts, formidable light shows and special effects. More than 3,000 spectators gathered in front of Galeries Lafayette to discover a unique show that plunged them into the universe of the most mythical cinematic saga of all time. A parade of Stormtroopers opened the festivities, soon followed by Jedi at the peak of their lightsaber skills. Jedi Twi’lek with their incredible looks took over, followed by R2-D2 and 3 other astromech droids, to a standing ovation from the audience.
The fervor was at its peak as young and old alike, their eyes filled with wonder, discovered the new look of the Stormtroopers as seen in STAR WARS : THE REVEIL OF THE FORCE from December 16. The show ended on a high note when young Padawans, Jedi apprentices, joined the cast for the grand finale. At the end of the show, Jedi and Stormtroopers took selfies with the audience…
From November 4 to January 2, Galeries Lafayette’s “Christmas from another planet” with STAR WARS™ as a special guest, will invite visitors to enjoy highly immersive experiences:
– 5 showcases dedicated to the event film STAR WARS : THE FORCE AWAKENS at Lafayette Homme : The first reveals new-look Stormtroopers in front of the First Order flag, the second introduces us to the mysterious Captain Phasma, who will prove to be a formidable future adversary, the third invites us to take a trip inside the cockpit of the legendary Millennium Falcon, the fourth takes us to the desert planet Jakku with Rey, the film’s new heroine, and her famous Speeder, and finally the last allows us to discover the film’s various trailers.
– An animation area on the 1st floor of Lafayette Homme, to experience the saga through Disney Infinity 3.0 or STAR WARS™ Battlefront video games, pose alongside a Stormtrooper or admire some of the film’s original costumes.
– An exhibition entitled ” Star Wars Legion “, on the walkway linking the two stores, to discover how several French artists from a variety of backgrounds have reinvented the famous Stormtrooper helmets. This exhibition will be the subject of a forthcoming press release to be sent out on Monday November 9 – An original collection inspired by STAR WARS™ codes created by the Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) in association with Disney. This collection is sold at the Disney Store located on the 4th floor of the Coupole building.
After the Galeries Lafayette stores in Nice and Nantes, Disney Store joined the Galeries Lafayette stores on November 2, this time on Bd Haussmann in Paris. Animations, exclusive image projections, storytellers, shows… In these 370m2 dedicated to dreams, families can now enjoy unforgettable experiences and discover exclusive products in the colors of children’s favorite Disney, MARVEL and STAR WARS™ characters.
