On this Women’s Day, we wanted to introduce you to a little gentleness in this world of brutes. So it’s only natural that we should introduce you not only to Sunberg, but also to a courageous woman with a big heart: Fredrika Sundberg.

It was a rainy afternoon when we met her at her home. Naturally, she opened her door to us with a big smile, offering to take off our coats and make us a cup of tea or coffee to warm us up.

We then made our way to her living room, where a candle was lit with its enchanting fragrance and we were lulled by Frederika’s gentle voice. All in all, the conditions were just right for her to introduce us to her first line of household linen.

The first line has certainly been on her mind for a long time now. For almost 30 years, Frederika has been helping to design linens for some of France’s biggest retailers. She could have been content with this position. But that wasn’t in her character, for this woman is a woman of passion and, above all, of convictions, since she acquired her experience in the textile industry during her sojourns in Pakistan and among its inhabitants.

Gradually, through contact with these people, she became inspired by the desire to create top-quality linens, worthy of the finest hotels but above all respectful of her ethical, moral and social values, creating a win-win cooperation and giving birth to an exceptional product that respects fair trade and is less “disposable”.

This is how she came to conceive a new model of sustainable, ecological development based on respect for raw materials and the social advancement of the men and, above all, the women who shape them. Elevating her product not simply to a product that meets a need, but a product to be passed on, a legacy full of love.

If this heritage is so strong, it is certainly due to her dual nationality, which makes this woman both Swedish and French, elegant, fine, gentle and simple. These ingredients are also found in her creations. Simple, beautiful and well-crafted, made in the purest tradition, in the image of her creator.

This demand is now also being made by a young Pakistani woman, Malala, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. So, Frederika has chosen to get more involved for Pakistani women alongside Malala, to change mentalities and advance women’s rights in this country.

Frederika is therefore committed to donating a portion of its profits from every Maison Sunberg set sold to the Malala Fund www.malala.org. So don’t hesitate to choose Maison Sundberg to be cradled in tenderness, softness and love for your nights and your home.
