David Koepp’s new film is simply out of this world, halfway between The Pink Panther and Austin Powers. Johnny Depp plays an English art dealer, a true gentleman with a passion for beautiful women and luxury in all its forms. In life, this eccentric has only one weakness: his wife Johanna (Gwyneth Paltrow), for whom he’ll do anything except shave his moustache. In this first adventure, he attempts to recover a missing Goya painting at the request of the British secret service, in order to pay off his debts to “Queen and Country”.
A very eventful, delirious and sometimes very funny mission. David Koepp makes a truly entertaining film here, supported by a superb cast (Ewan Mac Gregor and Jeff Goldblum are perfect in supporting roles).
Fans of luxury clothing will appreciate Johnny Depp’s bespoke suits and Church’s, as well as Gwyneth Paltrow’s Stella Mac Cartney dress and suit.
Released January 21, 2015 (Metropolitan Filmexport).
