Art lovers, a small revolution has just been born: Barter. This club offers an unconventional way of discovering Parisian cultural venues. It’s an open sesame to art.
Visiting an exhibition or buying a work of art should remain a pleasure. The Barter club has been designed to respond to the everyday problems that sometimes make art an ordeal rather than a pleasure. Barter is aimed at all art lovers, whether or not they are familiar with the places that make up the art market: endless queues, lack of explanations, not knowing what to choose…
Barter Paris Art Club: a simple, accessible way to enjoy Parisian art events. Barter members are no longer simply spectators of the art world, they are full participants. Exhibitions, galleries, fairs, auction houses, buying art: the Barter club opens the doors to art and accompanies you.
As a recent member, we were able to test this quality service on three occasions.
Firstly, at a private members-only evening at Lorenz Baümer. This jeweller had opened his doors to Barter members and decorated his wonderful Place Vendôme boutique with unique works of art.
Second meeting, a VIP visit to Paris Photo, the photo event of the year. Accompanied by a guide and without having to queue, we were able to discover the show’s masterpieces. The tour was led by an experienced guide who ensured that we didn’t miss out on any of the monuments to photography on display, which can often be the case at these major events. He gave us the historical and technical keys to this market.

Last experience, a visit to the controversial Jeff Koons exhibition at the Centre Pompidou. Jeff Koons, undoubtedly one of the most criticized and, above all, one of the most expensive artists in the world, can unsettle his viewers if they don’t have the keys to his art. Once again, an experienced guide gave us a complete portrait of the artist, and explained work by work the reasons for the success of this monument to modern art.
Barter facilitates access and is a wonderful way to discover art. It’s an advantageous way to avoid queues, but above all it’s an advantageous way to learn about a world that can be frightening.
