RENÉSIM is a jewelry brand based in Munich, where it continues a 175-year family tradition. It all began with René Sim Lacaze, a renowned 20th-century jewelry designer, and has been passed down through two generations to his grandson Maximilian Hemmerle, one of the founders of the RENÉSIM online luxury jeweler.
René Lacaze, who gave his name to the brand, was quite a character. Fascinated by Parisian haute couture, of which his mother was a worthy representative, he immersed himself in creation, drawing inspiration from fashion and art alike.
After the First World War, René Lacaze decided to become a jeweler, starting at the bottom of the ladder in workshops and working his way up until his artistic skills came to the fore. He was then hired by Van Cleef & Arpels and finally found his calling, designing numerous collections and jewels. He became a recognized and appreciated artist.
In tribute to his wife Simone, René Lacaze added “Sim” to his artist’s name to become René Sim Lacaze. The couple had four children, including Geneviève, mother of Maximilian Hemmerle, co-founder of the jeweler RENÉSIM.
After Van Cleef & Arpels, René Sim Lacaze joined Mauboussin, bringing his creative expertise to the company, designing pieces for numerous celebrities.
Today, Maximilian Hemmerle takes up the torch and creates exclusive jewelry for RENÉSIM with his father, Franz, who was co-owner of the famous Hemmerle jewelry store in Munich’s Maximilianstrasse for 33 years.
RENÉSIM is the continuation of this passion for jewelry, tradition and quality. All jewelry is made in Germany in the finest tradition of craftsmanship dear to the company’s values.
