Mercedes-Benz AMG is a brand as legendary as it is magical. As part of AMG LIVE, we were once again able to discover the new launches of these dream cars, in particular the SLS AMG coupé.
If the SLS AMG clocked up a few extra kilometers per hour, it would reach the maximum speed on the scale used in the USA to measure wind intensity. This exceptional sports car with its distinctive gullwing doors combines remarkable driving dynamics with breathtakingly pure, award-winning design.
For several years, Mercedes-Benz and AMG engineers have been joining forces to develop a new-generation supersports car. Pushing back the boundaries of what is possible, while combining the passion of their predecessors with the technologies of the future: this goal has now been achieved in the shape of the SLS AMG.
Long hood, gullwing doors, fighter-plane cockpit interior, aluminum bodywork, high-performance AMG engine: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a legend is born.
On paper, the SLS AMG is a 6.3-liter V8 engine developing 571 hp and 650 Nm of torque, capable of propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and up to a top speed of 317 km/h! To achieve such high performance, Mercedes-Benz and AMG have used totally new materials and solutions from the world of racing.
Ultra-light engine block positioned low behind the front axle thanks to the elimination of the oil sump, carbon driveshaft guaranteeing immediate response time, magnesium intake manifold – although “hidden” under the hood, the engine and all this technology are also exceptional.
