Study: the French love their food more than their compatriots

As part of a study, travel search engine momondo.fr asked the French what they liked best about their country. The result: the patriotism of our compatriots is expressed more in the cuisine than in the love of one’s fellow man! Results to ponder on the eve of our national holiday…

3 reasons to love France

The French are proud of their culinary savoir-faire, the beauty of nature and their culture.

33% of French people cite cuisine as France’s main attraction. National and regional dishes therefore hold a special place in the hearts and stomachs of the French. A love that has been exported internationally, with French cuisine often cited as one of the best in the world. Only the Italians (36%) are even more proud of their cuisine than the French.

In second place, 29% of French people prefer the beauty of the French countryside and the country’s natural assets. Indeed, despite its moderate size, France abounds in natural parks and mountain ranges. The variety of its regions and its many coastlines, including the famous French Riviera, make it one of the most beautiful countries to visit. And indeed, it’s the most touristic country in the world! In fact, many French people prefer to vacation in Normandy, Brittany or the South of France rather than abroad. More proud of their natural landscapes than the French? In comparison with other European countries, Scandinavians (Norwegians (73%), Swedes (64%) and Finns (76%)) are even more enamored of nature in their own country.

Finally, French culture, which of course includes its language and history, is claimed by 26% of French people as their main source of pride.

… But the French would like more sympathy and good weather in their country!

Indeed, the survey shows that the French don’t like their compatriots very much. Only 1% of those surveyed cited French people as their country’s main asset.

The second element that is certainly not highlighted by those surveyed is France’s weather situation. Only 1% of respondents chose the weather as their main factor of satisfaction… and this figure is unlikely to rise, given the latest weather trends in most of France this summer.
