There are countless Italian restaurants in Paris. Disappointment is often the order of the day. Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, Sassotondo is a place that will reconcile you with Italian gastronomy. Enthusiastic!
As soon as you enter the restaurant, waitresses with Italian accents greet you, take your jacket and put it in the checkroom. In the middle, a huge country ham takes pride of place. We’re immediately immersed in a Tuscan atmosphere. The room is not very large and the decor is rather modern. We sit down and are served warm homemade bread with a small vial of olive oil. The menu is very tempting. The choice is difficult: Bruschetta, Penne, Mortadella, Cod roti. A lunchtime menu: starter and main course for 18 euros. A really competitive price. In the evening, there’s a set menu at 33 euros.
For starters, we choose mozzarella with arugula. A great classic. When tasted, this mozzarella is truly incredible. The best I’ve ever tasted. Very creamy.
For the main course, I opt for the leg of lamb with caponeta, a sort of ratatouille. It’s cooked just right. The little vegetables are just right. All the products are fresh. What a delight! Michele Della Valle, a Pisa-born chef, makes the most of the produce.
We finish with a Tiramisu. As good as the rest.
All in all, Sassotondo is a real favorite. The place has a real identity and offers quality products. Everything is homemade. A restaurant that could become our HQ. The address is well known to lovers of good food. Reservations are highly recommended.
