On October 12, 2017, the L’Oréal Foundation launched “#NowYouKnow”, a communication campaign aimed at middle and high school girls to support them in their career choices and help them envisage science as a future horizon. Indeed, while 49% of high school science classes are made up of girls, only 28% of researchers are women (source: UNESCO Report on Science Towards 2030, 2015).
The idea? To challenge prejudices by demonstrating that science can be conjugated in the feminine form and that it is everywhere, even in fields that might seem unsuspected.
The concept? A web-series featuring original pairings of 6 young scientists and 6 female influencers, each of whom is a trendsetter in their own field (Lola Dubini, MissJirachi…).
Each influencer will unveil the video to her community, which will be posted on the L’Oréal Foundation Youtube channel.
The first video, published yesterday by Lola Dubini, reveals the encounter between two music enthusiasts. Every day, Jimena combines music and science, developing music analysis algorithms for a streaming platform.
This groundbreaking digital device is part of the Pour les Filles et la Science program, launched in 2014 by the L’Oréal Foundation, in partnership with the French Ministry of Education.
