Imagine Tony Ward circa 1996, alpha male on the walkways of Santa Monica Boulevard after a dip in the ocean, before heading for the hills of the arty Los Feliz village in Los Angeles, between some of Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Neutra’s architectural gems. An hour’s drive under the blazing rays that strike the City of Angels, and two worlds, padded refuges in the gigantism of the West Coast, collide for the Spring-Summer 2018 collection.

Lucien Pellat-Finet and his wife are a bohemian couple with a studied nonchalance, immersed in surf and art culture, like the works of Larry Clark hanging on the walls of the Parisian headquarters where the show takes place. Between memories and the designer’s fantasy vision, “Happy Days >>” is the leitmotif of the season.

The result is a look doped with ñuorescent colors, to impart high-voltage bursts of positive energy. The signature hemp leaf print remains a key motif throughout the collection, and this season’s fashion highlight is the subtle pastiche rhinestone “Sucks” print.

Another house hallmark is the uncompromising reign of materials, with the finest cashmere used and seasonal research into Japanese technical fibers, all part of Made in France, Italy and Japan excellence.
