KRUG EN CAPITALE III settles in the heart of a prestigious palace, the Plaza Athénée, and offers the spectacle of the most beautiful city in the world to underline the multiple and generous flavors of Krug Grande Cuvée.

Each evening, from April 09 to 23, 2014, 14 guests will be able to enjoy a memorable dinner, discovering the original staging of this venue currently undergoing renovation.

For this third opus, three-time three-star chef Alain Ducasse lends his hand to a menu of dishes highlighting the emblematic notes of Krug Grande Cuvée. The decor, imagined by Sébastien Léon, invites guests to enjoy an all-encompassing experience throughout the evening.

the lighting, visual and sound accompaniment play out a symphony in three beats, written for Krug.

Sébastien Léon, artistic revelation of Krug en Capitale III

Designer, musician, visual artist and composer Sébastien Léon is a French artist based in New York. His musical explorations have given rise to large-scale sound installations combining music, sculpture and painting.

For Krug en Capitale III, from April 9 to 23, 2014, Sébastien Léon plays on his multiple talents as an accomplished contemporary artist to reinterpret the top floor of the Plaza Athénée and present an original musical sculpture – Le Carileon – inspired by the glass of Krug bottles.

To carry out his project, this talented designer drew inspiration from the evocative power of the palace: all its aesthetic, historical and emotional references are revisited, absorbed and surpassed in a subtle yet intense confrontation with the creativity of today’s world. Sound is omnipresent. It is multi-tracked, mixing voices, rare instruments such as the Cristal Baschet, and abstract sounds, and enveloping guests throughout the evening:

“I love the musical allegories Krug uses to describe its Champagne. From the virtuoso soloist portraying the Clos du Mesnil to the philharmonic orchestra for the Grande Cuvée, the richness of the aromas and the finesse of the bubbles are all notes that punctuate the Krug symphony. Music was therefore the starting point for the universe I created for Krug en Capitale”, says the artist.

The notion of a journey is crucial to the scenography he has chosen to implement. From the entrance on Rue du Boccador to the Suite Eiffel, guests embark on a journey that progressively moves from the rough on the first floor to the polished on the terrace, with increasing refinement of graphic, sonic, textural and sculptural elements. 150 meters of corridors on two floors, an elevator, two lounges, two bedrooms and a terrace are entirely revisited for an unparalleled experience.
