Dutch duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren define summer in three words: straw hats, flip-flops and flowery dresses. Guest members of the Chambre syndicale de la Haute Couture, Dutch duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren define summer in three words: straw hats, flip-flops and flowery dresses. But that’s without taking into account the ability of designers to experiment, to dare, to give their own definition to the couture version of summer clothing. Working with a single fabric, they print, embroider and transform it to create new pieces that end up intertwining like flowers growing out of dresses and clinging to the straw of hats. Viktor&Rolf’s signature play on volume is evident in the white petticoats that protrude from the dresses, or the bows on the collars that reveal the shoulders. Of particular note: the work on colors, from purple to burgundy, through orange and blue tones reminiscent of African wax fabrics.
