IRELAND CELEBRATES A NEW WHISKY

Ireland undeniably plays a leading role in the world of whiskey. According to whiskey aficionados, Ireland is one of the world’s leading whiskey producers. Jameson, Midleton, Bushmills etc. make up a panel with great diversity on the palate. With its amber hue and slightly smoky or non-smoky taste, this is an element to dream about. In the Midlands region, in the center of the island, one whiskey has carved out a rightful place for itself: Tullamore DEW. Almost two centuries old, the company has developed a rich range of fine references.

The ‘classic’ Tullamore Dew, at 40°, is the most emblematic.

Single malt is the most atypical. Malted barley is not usually used for Irish whiskies.

The latest addition, Tullamore Dew Phoenix, refers to the inhabitants of the town of Tullamore.

It has a distinctive character and powerful aromas. It is particularly powerful (bottled at 55°). Unchill-filtered, it develops atypical flavors. These are accentuated by maturation in Sherry casks. However, it retains the subtle fruity, flowery flagrances characteristic of the brand and triple distillation. Present in France since September 2013, Phœnix should be a real success. Essential, it is a limited edition of 10,000 bottles.

The brand strengthened its image by building a new distillery in Tullamore, the original town where the first factory was established in 1829. Here, under the impetus of D. E. Williams, its manager, the brand really took off. His initials, together with those of the City, gave the brand its definitive name.
The Tullamore Dew Phœnix is a reference to the history of the company, which closed in 1954 and is now back in the glory of its heyday, but above all to the people of Tullamore. In 1785, the town was burnt down in a hot-air balloon accident. They rebuilt it with exceptional energy. Enthusiastically, they added a Phoenix to their coat of arms, emblematic of their rebirth.
The new facility is scheduled to open in autumn 2014. The moment is eagerly awaited!
