Delicacy and Determination
Seeking the subtle balance between fragility and strength. The spring-summer 2018 collection from
Kristina Fidelskaya, entitled “anima”, explores the fascinating courage of women, inspired by the story of two women at
both delicate and determined from the English drama presented in the film WE. The courage of young women at
captivating allure, conceptualized in the film’s compelling love stories, inspires Kristina Fidelskaya’s
strong, feminine elegance.
Kristina Fidelskaya’s first show in Paris, the brand’s ninth collection, is entitled “Anima”, a reference to
“the soul” in Italian, which perfectly evokes the depth of personality in the film W.E. The sculpted volumes of the
collection are directly inspired by Brutalist architecture, the clean lines of early modernism from
to the American architecture of the 1930s, as well as elements of American art deco.
Kristina presents the strong female personalities of the film W.E. and dresses them poetically in muted, organic
tones, such as mercury, rose quartz and dry tobacco, and complements them with delicate details of woven silk,
linen and organza. One of the collection’s key models is Kristina Fidelskaya’s remarkable jacket dress, at once
structured and flowing. Both pieces are impeccably cut with perfect jackets presented on flowing
tops that reveal the mastery of material work. Fashion, art, design, cinema and photography
combine to create a new spirit with the cultural references of Richard Neutra and Irving Gill, combined with the color interest
of French photographer Maripol and American realist photographer Don Eddy.
