Happy AQUA MOTULFrenchhouse Comptoir Sud Pacifique celebrates the 25th anniversary of its best-selling fragrance.
Since its creation in 1974, Comptoir Sud Pacifique has affirmed its passion for travel and beautiful materials, with a strong desire to express their land, their continent and their scents. It began creating its fragrances as an olfactory visa, which it called “Les Eaux de Voyage®”.
In collaboration with Master Perfumer Henri Bergia, she designed a colorful itinerary that challenged codes and brought a touch of freshness and madness to a world where convention and classicism reigned supreme.
Together, they created their first compositions as figurative, sensorial canvases, evocative of nature and memories. A desire to be different through exoticism and refinement!
This creative audacity was to take on its full meaning when, 20 years later, their eyes turned to the brand’s first source of inspiration, Polynesia.
With its Marine olfactory facet, AQUA MOTU paints a sunny picture with the fresh breeze of the open sea mixed with the invigorating scents of the Pacific Ocean and the caressing, discreet scents of warm sand.
The magic is almost instantaneous! An immediate success that, since its creation, has placed the fragrance No.1 in sales, until 2016 when Rhum & Tabac eau de parfum became the leader. Today, it ranks #5 worldwide.
The biggest consumers of Aqua Motu are French and Italian men and women.
In the 90s, a cosmetics line (body cream and shower gel) was also launched. Unfortunately, it no longer exists.
Aqua Motu is an eau de toilette.
Since 2015, it has been available as an eau de parfum under the name AQUA MOTU INTENSE. With this version, the brand has seen faster growth than the eau de toilette, whose sales are stable on a like-for-like basis, meaning that new Aqua Motu fans prefer the intense version.
Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s eaux de parfum and eaux de toilette collections feature the same sober bottle, highlighted in the center by a blue label surmounted by the emblematic motu.
The slightly opaque silver hue gives a glimpse of the fragrance like a sea of changing reflections.
The round Zamac cap embossed with the brand name and the bottle’s design combine to express both “sensual and vulnerable” masculinity and ostensibly “virile” femininity.
