Arthur Avellano is 25 years old. After studying at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Toulouse and training at the ecole de la Chambre Syndicale, he joined the Atelier Chardon Savard.
In 2015, his graduation collection THE FEAST OF TRIMALCHIO caught the eye and won Who’s Next’s Best Graduate Collection award. Success followed, and he was invited to fashion week in Vietnam and New York, as well as to the White show in Milan.
In 2016, Arthur set up his own workshop, launched his eponymous brand and collaborated with other labels, notably Neith Nyer.
Arthur Avellano works mainly in latex. Banned from the classic wardrobe, on the borderline between object and fabric, its unseemly sexual connotations are ideal for conveying a message of insolence. Working in collaboration with specialized laboratories, he inscribes his brand’s originality in
innovative textile research by developing his own material, a hybrid latex with leather-like properties, but which retains its texture, fall and unique reflection.
He enriches his textile range with the use of noble materials as sensorially evocative as latex, such as leather and neoprene, all associated with the fetish world.
For his first show, CHUTE LIBRE , Arthur Avellano drew inspiration from Joel Schumacher’s cult film about a man at odds with the pretense of modern society, fascinated by the slippage inherent in the pressure of the social mask that muzzles our impulses. The point of no return in the face of the absurd.
In the same way, Arthur puts into perspective the materials associated with fetishism: latex, leather, spandex, and transposes them into a classic men’s wardrobe whose basics he takes from
the world of sportswear and Taylorism. Arthur Avellano aims to bring a nuance to the men’s wardrobe, on the bangs of the androgynous movement, and to make elegance and virility cohabit. Inspired by the study of sociotypes, attitude and personality become the focal point of the silhouette, infusing his creations with reality.
