AF Vandevorst – Fashion Week Paris Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2017-2018

This Fall/Winter 2017-2018 collection is inspired by new nostalgia – shaped by the excitement of reinvention – Past relics are repurposed and reoriented – natural silhouettes gently embrace their new roles.

We already have what we need, now we need to look at it with different eyes. Traditional Nordic knit wool sweaters are worn for a purpose: to illuminate the details of everything out of sight. Drama flirts with strict lines distracting us from a layer close to the skin beneath. High-gloss vinyl reveals itself there and everywhere, suggestively reminding us that what we see isn’t always what we get. We regenerate. Leaf becomes curve, print becomes dress, black bags become evening wear, closet bonuses become turbans. Color and texture don’t play by the rules, so faded leopard print jacquards play with yellow snakeskin and ill-fitting fur coats with sequined boots. The AF Vandevorst universe is as linear as it is round, as rigid as it is soft.
