From July 4 to 27, 2013, Paris-based Galerie Brugier-Rigail presents a new exhibition by its flagship artist JonOne. A fourth solo show for the New York artist, who invites us to discover the origins of his work through the premiere of his latest works.
For this new exhibition, Iron One, JonOne presents a selection of his latest artistic research through silkscreen work on steel and aluminum. He presents some thirty works (originals or multiples) estimated at €850 to €13,000. An impressive suite of unique Monotypes that reveal the artist’s mastery and virtuosity of modern technique. “JonOne, whom we met at our framer’s in 2007, has that rare ability to dare to do things, to get off the beaten track. He knows that we’re always ready to innovate with him, and to support him in his extraordinary creativity and the immoderation of his talent,” explain Eric and Laurent, co-founders of Galerie Brugier-Rigail.
A street artist in New York, JonOne was quickly spotted and has now taken up residence in Paris, where he exhibits a large number of works that testify to his evolution towards contemporary art. A change of direction that gradually distanced him from his urban roots, with which he is now reconnecting through Iron One. A survival for the artist who reconciles himself with art brut in a transcendence of the metal medium.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, July 4 at 6pm, in the presence of the artist, an opportunity to discover and share his universe suspended between matter and idea, the raw and the beautiful.
