From June 21 to September 15, 2013 opens the 9th edition of PROMENADES PHOTOGRAPHIQUES de Vendôme in Loir-et-Cher. A renowned event, nationally recognized in the field of photography for its multiple and original programming.
Once again this year, the bar is set high, and the whole town is gearing up to welcome visitors, enthusiasts and professionals alike. From the Saint-Jacques chapel, where the event will be inaugurated, to the château grounds, via the courtyard of the Cloister and the stables, Vendôme’s high points are taking part one by one in this original promenade. Les Promenades Photographiques invites us to discover the work of a wide range of artists, including Peter Knapp and Doreen Lindsay, as well as students from international photography schools. A diversity and rigor that will excite the 85,000 or so visitors to Vendôme.

For this 2013 edition, a number of highlights mark the opening of the festival with ambitious projects charged with meaning. Peter Knapp’s exhibition “Les gens d’ici…Portraits des familles du Loir-et-Cher” (People from here…Portraits of families from the Loir-et-Cher region) showcases a new approach to promoting and enhancing a diverse region through portraits of 15 families. We will also discover the photographic cooperation between France and Les rencontres de Gaspesie (Quebec), which marks the start of a partnership to weave an “Atlantic bridge” through residency exchanges between young photographers. There will also be exhibitions by Jean-François Rauzier with Volet 2 of “Projet Arches”, Rémi Chapeaublanc, Christian Lamontagne, Ari Verluis, Cyrus Cornut, Christophe Agou and many others.

As Guy Bourreau, president of Promenades Photographiques, reminds us, the aim of this year’s festival is “to encourage you to read photographs for yourself […] to better understand the reasons behind your emotions in front of the images, and thus to better appreciate the art of the photographers whose work we present to you”. A wonderful opportunity to share these multiple views of today’s world.
