Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Fall/Winter 2013/2014

Italy’s Salvatore Ferragamo presented a very dark collection for winter 2013/2014.
Far from the acid colors we were treated to last season, the house is refocusing on its specialty: leatherwork, adapting its palette to the material with which it has a historic relationship.

And if we continue the comparison with last season, there’s no question of sportswear here. Forget multicolored sneakers! Salvatore Ferragamo’s men’s collection draws its inspiration from rock-oriented streetwear, with its many leather jackets and perfectos.

Leather is therefore the domain in which the house excels, and we find it throughout the collection: stripes and yokes on coats and capes, gloves, ankle boots and moccasins. Although classic, the Ferragamo man is not obsolete. In fact, mixing navy blue and black with taste is a tour de force that the house pulls off without a hitch.

We’re dealing with an Italian house, so of course we find a few touches of fur here and there (on the collars, in particular). Beyond the leather, knit sweaters are also very present. The collars seem to be the starting point of the silhouette on the coats and jackets, as we can see that great attention is paid to them (oversize, don’t you know!). The whole look remains curved, square, clean and precise, capturing the essence of the Ferragamo man and his modern elegance without ostentation.
