Minnie kicks off Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary extensions, with her very first fashion show… and catwalks in Lanvin

On Saturday, March 23, 2013, Minnie kicked off Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary extensions. The most fashionista of animation icons presented an exclusive fashion show. She opened the show in a Lanvin gown designed especially for her by designer Alber Elbaz. A great first in the history of Disney Characters.

Minnie paraded in Lanvin, in a dress designed especially for her by Alber Elbaz
A lover of French fashion, Minnie secretly dreamed of being dressed by a great couturier. Mickey decided to do everything in his power to make this wish come true, in time to celebrate the extension of Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary. He took up his pen to sign a touching letter to a famous artistic director… And Alber Elbaz created a unique dress for Minnie by Lanvin.

He’s the first to say it: “Minnie is a fashionista”. Alber Elbaz, who has a particular attachment to the world created by Walt Disney, lent himself to the game of creating a unique piece for an extraordinary model. The designer explains this incongruous initiative by a “need to return to childhood, to naivety, it’s a kind of return to the truth”, in contrast to today’s fashion where “everything is so shiny and glossy”.

Designers extend Fashion Week and fashion dreams at Disneyland Paris
To extend this dream come true, Minnie invited top designers from all over Europe to imagine an exceptional collection. SISTER by SIBLING (UK), Philip Treacy (Ireland), Custo Barcelona (Spain) and Jean-Paul Knott (Belgium), to name but a few, delivered unique interpretations of the greatest classics to light up the new Disney Dreams® nighttime show!

From April 2013, Disneyland Paris is offering an extra six months to extend the magic of the most spectacular birthday ever! A unique opportunity to share even more emotions and wonder – for a limited time only. These exceptional extensions are full of surprises, and Minnie promises to present her Lanvin dress to the public on other special occasions. To be continued…
