TONY YAACOUB Fall-Winter 2013-14 Couture Collection

True to his philosophy, Tony Yaacoub’s autumn-winter silhouette is deliberately simplified and streamlined. Fine, almost liana-like lines, stretched to the sky, curl, break cleanly, give way to cut sections. Skilful constructions, subtle geometries, contrasting materials.

Velvets, crepes, silk lamés or sequined chains reveal the sheaths of grand soirs, inventing plays of transparency, volutes and asymmetries. Silk jacquard bubbles up and shapes a skirt or train. Scalpel-cut sheets of rhodoid shimmer in the light.

Here, jewelry takes on its full meaning in controlled opulence. Baroque pearl necklaces, crystal diamond bracelets and cabochon clips become embroidery. Like a treasure trove, in bold, precious “accumulations”, they ignite a bustier or cascade down the veil of a hip or shoulder. Colors are about emotion. They are the music of the eyes. Emerald, sapphire, ruby, garnet and amethyst play with brilliance and sparkle.
