Maison Martin Margiela Menswear Fall/Winter 2013/2014

Transported from confidential house to fashion superstar thanks to its collaboration with H&M and its official inclusion in the haute couture show calendar, Maison Martin Margiela is crowned with success…and rightly so! Margiela’s singular approach to clothing is to be commended.

For this Fall Winter 2013/2014 season, Maison Martin Margiela is where you least expect it. The show opened with “wise” outfits: navy blue, black and burgundy suits, long coats….then fur made its appearance. Initially worn as an oversized scarf, it is now available in gray, camel and burgundy. But none of this prepares us for what follows.

Immediately afterwards, a coat, a veritable patchwork of furs, made its entrance. The illusory sleeves were always present, and here we find the essence of Margiela.

Patchwork is again present in one of the show’s final looks, in the form of an entirely patched sweater reminiscent of Margiela’s previous menswear collections, where patchwork was also very present.

The finale is all leather, oversized coats halfway between a cape and a pea coat.
