The Winamax Poker Tour returns to La Grande Halle de la Villette

Like last year, the annual poker barnum was held at the Grande Halle de Villette during the last weekend of October. This huge tournament, which attracted 2,000 players, was the Paris leg of the 81-player Winamax Poker Tour. The 2,000 players had qualified free of charge online at winamax.fr.
Shortly before the tournament, I had the opportunity to meet members of Team Winamax. In particular, I chatted with Nicolas Levi and got a glimpse of the radiant Gaëlle Baumann, fresh from her 10th-place finish in the Las Vegas Main Event. Ludovic Lacay is all smiles, still enthusiastic after his victory at the EPT San Rémo. We also bump into Vikash Dhorasoo and singer Christophe. Then, from the mezzanine, Patrick Bruel kicked off the tournament with the famous “Shuffle up and Deal!”.

I was lucky enough to be able to take part in this tournament. At the table, two women in their forties and two members of the Paname Poker Club wearing stickers. 5 other players complete the table. I win my first hand by bluffing with a small Ace. Moments later, I lose a huge move by holding on to a top pair against a backdoor flush. My stack gradually melts away. No one pays me my stack with a pair of kings, but I get paid with my pair of 7s against a pair of jacks. This was my last hand. I finished in a respectable 1500th place, a long way from the last 36 players (including two women) who won their ticket to the final, which will take place in March 2013 at the Cercle Clichy-Montmartre. 500,000 euros are guaranteed for this final. The Winamax Poker Tour continues throughout France.
In parallel with the tournament, an exhibition of photos by Grégoire Camuzet featuring Team Pro Winamax players was presented.
