Rock evolution at Barbara Bui
The designer definitely chose to play the minimalist rock card. Leather on leather on androgynous biker silhouettes, python bags and pointed-toe pumps – all the elements were there to make us think, from the start of the show, of a rather smart collection, rebellious to the limit.
This was without counting on the progression that took place before our very eyes. From leather cigarette pants to totally transparent beige organza tops, which, although paired with black cotton pants, also reminded us of the fragility of Barbara Bui’s women and their elusive, ever-changing (moody?) facet.
The collection begins with a number of monochrome looks, gradually softened by the addition of colors (cerulean, royal blue…) to reach its apogee with tribal and floral prints mixing red, orange, green, blue and so on.
Of particular interest are the evening gowns in silk or silk and leather blends, which I consider to be the most imposing pieces in the collection.
