ANDREA CREWS ON ECSTASY

Andrea Crews has always amazed me with the madness of its collections and stagings.
This season, the presentation of its collection took place at L.140, a single-room hotel on rue Durantin. As we enter the street, which has been closed for the occasion, we can’t help but wonder what the brand has in store for us.

Two showcases frosted with a special gas, techno/dance music reminiscent of ’90s fashion, and on the right a cyber punk show by a dancer dressed all in metallic gray, with alien hairdo, while on the left clothes are presented by equally unusual models. Artist Rikslyd is at the turntables.

Like something straight out of a long ecstasy trip, the brand’s collection is a mix of cat holograms (!) – hence the name Kitten Hologram – and fluorescent colors.
Sportswear galore, tiedye, monogrammed 100 and 500€ bill garments, the tone is set. Bling bling but just as brilliant, Andrea Crews is all about 90s chic, also known as the rave years. Everything from denim jumpsuits and oversized sweaters to kitschy gym wear. The whole look is completely psychedelic, and it works!

My personal favorite? The monogrammed sweaters with the brand’s initials, as well as the various speckled transparent garments (fishnet? Nylon?) that I find simply sublime, especially the skirts and pants. Hard to wear, you may ask? but didn’t Anna Dello Russo make a name for herself wearing a transparent Dolce & Gabbanna lace dress in Paris? Fashion is constantly reinventing itself, sometimes using old codes, and that’s what Andrea Crews understood with this crazy, innovative collection.
