Launched to coincide with the ready-to-wear fashion shows, this new cocktail menu pays tribute to the five talented designer finalists in the 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize. This cocktail menu will be offered in Europe throughout the catwalk season, from September 6 to October 3, 2012, at 45 Park Lane in London, Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris, and Le Richemond in Geneva.

The 2012 finalists took part in developing this limited edition Fashion Prize menu alongside Dorchester Collection bar managers and directors, for cocktails that embody both the spirit of the designers’ work and the iconic Dorchester Collection hotels.

Inspired by Calla Haynes’ colorful collection, Daniele Confalonieri of Hotel Principe di Savoia has come up with the “Milanese Calla-pirinha”: a predominantly orange cocktail with a cinnamon stick, a hint of saffron, crushed ice for the white note and lemon for the touch of green.

After discovering IRM Design’s experimental design style, Thierry Hernandez, of the Hôtel Plaza Athénée, composed the “IRM Cocktail” around the rum-sake-vodka trio, presented with three vials containing essences of iris (I), rose (R) and mint (M). Contrasting with the simplicity of the alcohol base, the vials add color to recreate the flowing paint effect employed by IRM Design.

Annelie Augustin and Odély Teboul have teamed up with Stefano Cossio of Bar 45 on 45 Park Lane to create “Black Velvet”, a tequila-based cocktail with blackberry, thyme honey, crème de cassis and lemon juice, evoking the sophistication and black color of these two designers’ models.

Designer Quentin Véron, whose collection is inspired by Prohibition in the 1920s, joined the Richemond bar team to create the recipe for “Black Southside”. This gin-based cocktail, which also features blackberries and cherry syrup, takes us back to the American speakeasies of the early 20th century in just a few sips.

Faithful to the omnipresent black in their most electric collection, Les Garçons, aka Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud, have collaborated with William Oliveri of Le Meurice to create “Nuit noire”, a drink made with blueberry vodka and blackberry liqueur.

The illustrious jury for the 2012 edition of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize includes: Elizabeth Saltzman, Vanity Fair editorial consultant; Kenzo Takada, founder of Kenzo; Bruno Frisoni, artistic director of French luxury shoe house Roger Vivier; Lorenz Baumer, Louis Vuitton jewelry designer; Alexandra Golovanoff, French journalist and television host; Nathalie Rykiel, president of the Sonia Rykiel fashion house; Chantal Thomass, president of the Chantal Thomass lingerie brand; Harumi Klossowska de Rola, jewelry designer and daughter of the painter Balthus; and Jean-Jacques Picart, fashion and luxury industry consultant.

On October 16, the winner of the 2012 edition of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize will receive a prize of €30,000 and a stay at Spring 2013 Fashion Week in one of the Dorchester Collection hotels in Paris or Milan.
