Georges Chakra celebrates 25 years in Beirut Spring/Summer 2012 Couture Collection

Following his success in the fashion world and his international expansion from Paris to New York, Georges Chakra honored his homeland by celebrating his 25th career anniversary. Exceptionally, he presented his Spring/Summer 2012 Couture collection at Beirut’s Biel as a tribute to the city that was at the start of his unstinting career.
Guests were able to admire 40 pieces from the company’s archives in a museum set up at the entrance to the Pavilion. . Exceptional pieces that have marked the designer’s career: some are made from exceptional materials, others have been worn in museums around the world, and some have been worn by celebrities. The event opened with a retrospective film illustrating Chakra’s journey over the past 25 years, followed by the Couture fashion show from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

Inspiration for 2012 was drawn from the poetically quirky world of Claude Monet. An era of impressionism and romanticism dotted with tulle flowers dominates the catwalk at this season’s show. Transparent cut-outs in geometric shapes, the house’s signature, give rise to a wardrobe of modern refinement tinged with a hint of romance. The color palette varies from pastel shades – powder pink, beautiful blue, green tea, sunflower yellow… and a burst of white cotton.

At the end of the show, Georges Chakra thanked his entire team of over 100 people, and especially the workshop’s little hands, by inviting them to the catwalk.
