There are unique encounters between outstanding designers of unrivalled humanity and beautiful brands. The encounter between Sakina M’sa, a Parisian designer we’ve known for years at Luxsure and hold dear to our hearts, and PUMA, the essential lifestyle brand, is one of those encounters.
A few days ago in Paris, they launched their interpretation of the iconic PUMA® Grip Bag, the fruit of a meeting initiated with the support of the PPR Foundation.
After being unveiled in Berlin at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2011/2012 last January, it will now be presented and sold exclusively in Paris at the MERCI boutique (111, boulevard Beaumarchais 75003 Paris). For decades, the Grip Bag has been one of PUMA®’s most legendary accessories. The classic, timeless style of the PUMA® Grip Bag, combined with Sakina M’sa’s trademark talent and the typical “Bleu de Travail” of the French worker, give this accessory a very special character.
Founded in 2002, Sakina’s brand, with its resolutely modern style, has developed through a social commitment to those facing difficulties in professional integration. In 2010, the PPR Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights, which is part of PPR HoMe, awarded Sakina M’Sa a “social entrepreneur” grant for the quality of her project, which reconciles economic efficiency and social innovation. The prize for Sakina: financial support and mentoring from a Group manager.
In addition, Sakina has benefited from a skills transfer program as part of the leadership seminars provided by UniverCité PPR.
Group executives carried out a full audit to improve the quality of this workshop run by women facing social and economic exclusion.
One of their recommendations gave rise to this ground-breaking collaboration with Puma®.
Each bag features a host of meticulous, personalized details: top-quality leather handles and trimmings, three “antique gold” charm keys bearing the effigy of the two brands, and a blue leather travel label with a small leaflet on the history of Sakina M’sa. The Grip Bag also contains subtle surprises: an endearing message addressed to the owner of this very special bag, and a photo of a French worker dressed in authentic “Bleu de Travail”. Handmade, each piece is unique. Available in a limited edition of just 100 bags worldwide, the Sakina Grip Bag represents the It Accessoire.
Launched in the early 50s, the PUMA® Grip Bag has never ceased to occupy center stage, establishing itself each season as a must-have in the collection.
The PUMA® Grip Bag by Sakina M’sa is available in France, exclusively at the MERCI boutique from October 11, 2011. (111, boulevard Beaumarchais 75003 Paris)
