At Deauville, the judokas go all out!
At the beginning of February, the poker capital of the world is in Deauville for a few days. The EPT Deauville, the biggest French poker tournament organized by world poker leader PokerStars, welcomed Olympic judo champion Lucie Décosse and her friends and team-mates Ugo Legrand and Benjamin Darbelet on Friday February 1st. They were joined on site by Laurent Baffie and Pascal Sellem for a game “between friends”, hosted by Team Pro PokerStars player Julien Brécard.
Poker star ElkY also surprised them by playing a few hands with them. The five personalities then applied the advice of the two pro players to one of the EPT Deauville tournaments! Laurent Baffie was the first to come out on top, following a great move by Ugo Legrand, followed by Lucie Décosse after 2h30 of tournament play, and then Pascal Sellem. Ugo Legrand and Benjamin Darbelet held out until 1 a.m., taking home €200 and €300 respectively.
A true festival of poker, this year’s EPT Deauville features over 30 tournaments and €5,000,000 in prize money, including €4,000,000 for the main event.
Over 2,500 players are expected to take part over the 10 days. The EPT Deauville will take place in Deauville from January 30 to February 9, bringing together some 2,000 players over 10 days for total winnings of €5,000,000.
