Fashion designer Valerian Hughes presented his Prêt à Porter Eté 2012 VH by Valerian Hughes collection, in the intimate atmosphere of 61 rue de la Boétie, Paris.

For this Spring-Summer collection, Valerian drew its inspiration from the Urban Lady, a resolutely modern and sophisticated woman who, like a chameleon, adapts her outfit to the different situations that punctuate her day. Valerian’s collection is built around essential pieces for a modern, timeless wardrobe.

This translates firstly into very feminine outfits, bursting with white, connoting the morning freshness of spring, as with these very sophisticated trench coats or suits, in immaculate white silk, combined with slims for a more androgynous line.

Then, to recapture the softness of summer, the collection comes in pastel tones. The young couturier innovated with finesse, adding details to bi-material blouses and creating slightly transparent, high-cut tops in champagne, powder pink, hazelnut or pearl gray.

For her chiffon dresses, Valerian again plays on the transparency and fluidity of materials to mark the airy allure of the city girl.

This is followed by more raw materials with earthy tones of khaki and taupe for more casual pieces, such as shorts, cargo pants, a leather skirt or a saharienne mixing leather and fabric.

This color palette is punctuated by denim pieces in deep blue, or a pantsuit enhanced by a highly structured jacket with basques.

For evening, Valerian has designed sequined leggings and evening gowns that sublimate the silhouette with pure, sensual cuts.

Clean lines, sobriety and refined details are the hallmarks of Valerian Hugues.
