Based in the Médoc, Château Fourcas Hosten continues the story it began in 1810, revealing the nuances of its terroir in chiselled bottles. Its 2021 white vintage is no exception, delivering an energetic, mineral and aromatic cuvée. Aged in barrels and amphorae, this great Bordeaux white wine expresses crisp fruitiness and complexity.

Château Fourcas Hosten, a historic site resolutely turned towards the future

Château Fourcas Hosten is a family estate founded in the early 19th century, nestled in the Médoc. Its historic heart is a superb 18th-century chartreuse surrounded by a 3-hectare park planted with trees.

The surrounding vineyards extend over 50 hectares. Since 2006, the owner family has been working hard to raise the estate to a new level of excellence, managing the vines and winemaking with the utmost respect for the environment. Today, Château Fourcas Hosten is resolutely committed to the future and to sustainable development.

2021, a vintage marked by a fine Indian summer

After a vegetative cycle punctuated by the vagaries of the weather, the 4-week Indian summer at the end of September enabled the grapes to reach optimum ripeness. The healthy, aromatic berries were harvested between September 13 and 24.

The grapes are 66% Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by 20% Sauvignon Gris and 14% Semillon. This trio brings freshness, fullness and complexity to the final blend.

Aged in barrels and amphorae

Vinification was carried out with precision to express the full potential of the vintage. After pressing, the juice was aged for 6 months in barrels (85%) and amphorae (15%). A stirring of the lees completed the ageing process.

A fresh, mineral white with berry aromas

This meticulous work has produced a great white wine structured by a beautiful minerality. From the very first nose, it reveals a highly expressive aromatic palette, combining lively citrus and juicy pineapple notes. On the palate, it impresses with its balanced texture and long finish.

With this chiselled vintage, Château Fourcas Hosten once again reveals its expertise in the art of great Bordeaux whites. A fine discovery to be enjoyed now.
