Since 26 September, the lower level of KAMS Paris, on avenue de l’Opéra, has been hosting 26 Asian perfume houses, presented only the day before at the Asia Perfume Show. Their fragrances can be smelled and bought there until 31 October.

From the show to the boutique

The Asia Perfume Show, organised in Paris by notes Shanghai, closed its doors on 25 September. The very next day, 26 houses, coming notably from China and Thailand, took up their places on level -1 of 6 avenue de l’Opéra. Ten of them are already distributed in France and showcased by KAMS Paris: To Define, Cottee, Chu Jian, Dusita, Borntostandout, Bu Feng, Voice From the Sky, Ebers Papyrus, Le Gout de Peau and Outis.

A heritage that the houses say they do not copy

According to KAMS Paris, fragrance culture predates by several centuries modern perfumery as it developed in Europe. In China, the term xiāng 香 denotes aromatic material: woods, resins, plants and spices were burned, heated or blended in temples, palaces and scholars’ studies, for ceremonies, spiritual and medicinal practices and the daily life of the literati. Also according to the boutique, the young Chinese houses do not take up this heritage literally. They use it as a vocabulary that they set against contemporary techniques and materials.

A perfumer to guide the selection

The selection was accompanied by Samuel Rolland, independent perfumer and olfactory adviser to KAMS Paris. A native of Bordeaux based in Paris, he founded the creative studio STERAN. He trained in olfactory composition at the Olfactines, followed the Nez Insurgé programme, and hosts the podcast Parler du Nez. In the residency’s press release, he states: “The aim of this residency is not to present Asian perfumery as a uniform whole, but to let the singularity of each house be heard.” His expertise will accompany the discovery of the creations throughout the pop-up.

Address and opening hours

KAMS Paris has been established since 1960 near the Palais-Royal, the Louvre and the Opéra Garnier, and champions independent niche perfumery. The pop-up is open from 26 September to 31 October 2026, from 10 am to 7 pm, on level -1 of 6 avenue de l’Opéra, Paris 1st. Admission is free and the creations are on sale on site throughout the event.
