Scottish distillery Mortlach, founded in 1823 by a family of scientists, presents its 16 YEARS OF AGE… a perfect balance of density, strength and intensity.

MORTLACH: A WEALTH OF HISTORY AND AROMAS

This Scottish Single Malt was born almost 200 years ago in the small village of Dufftown, in the heart of the wild Speyside region, renowned for its quality barley and pure waters. Nicknamed “The Beast of Dufftown”, Mortlach was born of the free and daring spirit of a doctor turned Master Distiller: Alexander Cowie. Its production process, kept secret and unchanged to this day, gives it a unique character. Mortlach is the fruit of distillers who perpetuate “The Way”, the iconic process in which the must is distilled 2.81 times, thanks to a long process of double distillations, triple distillations and backflows in contact with the raw material. It’s this labyrinth of stills and back-and-forth processes that give Mortlach its distinctive energy and aromatic profi le.

MORTLACH 16 ANS: REFLECTING THE POWER OF TIME

This new Scottish Single Malt is a veritable concentrate of expertise. Master Blenders have chosen to age it 100% in Sherry casks, giving it a certain depth and elegance. Finding its originality in the fi lter of time, it tempts spirits lovers to forget their knowledge and make way for an audacious tasting experience. On the nose, Mortlach 16 ans is vibrant. It needs time to allow its liquid to blossom, allowing the taster access to its share of mystery. Once aired, it patiently puts aside its woody notes to make way for a vegetal framework that intensifies with the arrival of a few familiar notes, those of “Wee Witchie1”. This framework becomes deeper and more delicate, the fruit of the iconic and mysterious “The Way” process. After sixteen years ageing exclusively in Sherry casks, Mortlach 16 YO reveals its power, density and intensity, while retaining its mystery.

AN INTENSE, FRESH MALT

Mortlach 16 ans offers its taster a most surprising aromatic palette. Unpeated, it reflects all the quintessence of the distillery thanks to a rare aging process. On the palate, its roundness and fi nesse give it powerful woody and spicy notes, followed by floral and fruity aromas. Notes of cooked fruit then emerge, giving way to a long, enveloping finish. This characterful whisky is perfect served with meat, to underline the fi nesse of the aromas.
