Snapchat launches an augmented reality experience (available now), in partnership with Virgil Abloh and his clothing and accessories brand, Off-White, marking the start of a series of collaborations to come in 2021.

Snapchat and Virgil have collaborated to create a Lens that will allow Snapchatters to virtually try on a selection of three iconic Off-White masks in augmented reality, inspired by the physical items in the SS21 collection. Snapchatters will also be able to purchase the mask on Off–White.com.

The Lens was conceived as an attractive and creative way to encourage Snapchatters to continue wearing masks and, ultimately, to continue respecting the barrier gestures for their well-being and that of others in this time of pandemic.

The health and safety of Snapchatters has always been a fundamental priority at Snapchat, continually finding new and creative ways to support the well-being and mental health of its community. Snapchatters will also have the option of having their Bitmoji Selfies wear Off-White masks, helping to bridge the gap between the way they express themselves in the digital and real worlds.

This collaboration with Virgil Abloh is the latest in a series of Snap X Artist partnerships with artists such as Damien Hirst, Christian Marclay, Alex Israel and Harmony Korine, using technology to demonstrate how the digital and physical worlds can unite for even greater self-expression.
