The charm of Tinos with Aeolis Suites

The Cyclades need no introduction: islands bathed in Greek sunshine, with their white houses and sandy beaches. Among these islands, Tinos has an extra soul.

We had the pleasure of discovering this island and staying at the Aeolis Tinos Suites. A sun-drenched paradise with a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea and surrounding islands. Calm and relaxation are the order of the day.

Nestled among fragrant olive groves and vineyards and surrounded by a whispering stream, on a 12-hectare plot, each detached villa offers unobstructed views not only of the deep blue Aegean Sea, but also of the neighboring Cyclades islands.

From the pool of the Aeolis, you can travel at sight in the Cyclades: Mykonos, Rinia, Delos, Ios, Syros, Naxos, Amorgos, Paros, Antiparos, Sifnos, Irakleia…

The island of Tinos is a rare jewel in the Cyclades. Bathed in wind, serenity, hospitality and the well-preserved ancient charm of Tinos and its picturesque villages. The scent of the sea mixed with orange blossom and the bright sunlight give this sacred island a special flavor.

You’ll be amazed too when you discover the unspoilt beaches, centuries-old architecture, exceptionally good food, and incredible sea views.

In Tinos, you’ll discover a wealth of natural beauty, traditional villages, religious icons, ornate churches, marble art galleries, basket weaving, charming pigeon lofts – the very best of Greek culture! Located in the heart of the Cyclades, Tinos is the perfect starting point for fascinating day cruises to discover the other islands of the Cyclades.

The authentic, renovated guest houses on the Aeolis estate have all been built with the same objective in mind – to share that wonderful dream of a Cycladic Greek summer. Only local materials such as marble and Tinos stone have been used… nothing has been imported. The villas feature the authentic beauty of rough stone walls, traditional marble lintels from old mansions, hand-woven baskets from the village of Volax, period marble tables and, in one of the property’s two churches, a carved marble altar by the famous sculptor Yiannis Kyrarinis.

Tinos has a long and proud tradition of sculpture and painting. The island has been home to such renowned sculptors as Gyzis, Lytras, Chalepas, Filippotis and Sochos. Legend has it that Phidias, the famous sculptor of ancient times, taught the secrets of his art to the people of Tinos. Like the rest of the island, the Aeolis estate showcases the work of Tinos artisans with marble fountains, statues, arches, church ornaments, pigeon lofts and intricate dormer windows called “iperthira” on houses…a Tinos creation.

But it’s the hundreds of white pigeon lofts dotted around the Tinos countryside that constitute one of the Cyclades’ most beautiful gems, each with its own unique and intricate architecture. Three authentic Tinos-style pigeon lofts, originally built to house the island’s favorite birds, now bring an old-fashioned village charm to the Aeolis estate. One of the pigeon lofts, while retaining its aesthetic exterior, has been converted into a clever and luxurious home for two. This is the only authentic dovecote on the whole island of Tinos for people who feel a little like “birds in love”.

With its Cycladic-style villas, Aeolis Tinos Suites offers an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experience for every guest. The 500-year-old stone buildings have been beautifully transformed into modern 5-star accommodations, each with its own private pool, to give guests a wonderful Tinos experience.
