ZELA Ibiza exports to the ME London hotel
ZELA restaurant sets up shop in London at the ME LONDON hotel in Covent Garden. ZELA London follows the concept of ZELA Ibiza, the island’s flagship restaurant launched in May 2017 in the prestigious Marina Botafoch district, known for its atmosphere, unique concept of Japanese and Mediterranean fusion cuisine and craft cocktails. We were able to try it out when it opened, and we salute the fine cuisine, a perfect blend of Mediterranean and Asian.
This Diego Gronda studio concept has its own signature: abundant vegetation, intimate alcoves, Spanish-influenced tiles, bamboo furniture, palm tree wallpaper… During the day, large windows flood the space with natural light; in the evening, subdued lighting creates an ambience more in tune with the DJ.
The sushi bar, open kitchen and superb cocktail bar alongside the restaurant add a cosmopolitan, original and chic touch.
Celebrated Michelin-starred chef Ricardo Sanz officiates in the kitchen. Together with the TATEL team, he has created Meppon cuisine. He applies Japanese techniques and flavors to Mediterranean products and traditions. ZELA offers a wide selection of fresh Mediterranean fish and seafood. Lots of raw fish on the menu: tataki, tartar, sashimi, sushi, gyozas and tiradito. Signature dishes include scallop tiradito with Ibizan sobrasada (a sausage that is one of the island’s specialties) and nigiri sushi with white truffle. Meppon influences can be found in dishes such as Iberian pork gyoza, thinly sliced tuna sashimi with grated tomatoes, olive oil and bread, and 48-hour braised Wagyu teriyaki.
A must-try.
