CHOPARD CELEBRATES BREAKTHROUGH PRIZE 2019
JULIANNE MOORE, LUPITA NYONG’O AND G.E.M. CHOOSE JEWELER CHOPARD AT THE 7th ANNUAL BREAKTHROUGH PRIZE CEREMONY
On Sunday, November 4, 2019, Silicon Valley’s Breakthrough Prize Foundation (the Oscars of Science) honored the outstanding achievements of scientists in the fields of life sciences, fundamental physics and mathematics at a ceremony held at NASA’s Research Center in Mountain View, California.
Chopard has teamed up with the foundation to create special jewelry for the Breakthrough 2019 Prize winners: original pieces such as cufflinks, earrings and “pins”, crafted in Chopard’s workshops from Fairmined-certified 18-carat white gold and featuring mobile blue sapphires, mobile yellow sapphires and mobile tsavorites.
All previous and future laureates, as well as the young researchers awarded the New Horizons Prize, will receive these jewels in recognition of their decisive contributions to the life sciences, fundamental physics and mathematics.
For this special evening, Oscar-winner Julianne Moore sparkled with a pair of titanium earrings set with orange garnets (6.12 cts), yellow sapphires (3.97 cts), blue topazes (2.22 cts), pink sapphires (2.19cts), lavender chalcedony cabochons (2.03cts) and tsavorites (0,45ct), an 18 ct white gold bracelet set with diamonds (53.43 cts), an 18 ct pink gold ring set with multicolored sapphires (41.68 cts) and a pink gold “pink flamingo” ring set with an oval-cut violet tourmaline (8.18cts) and yellow diamonds, all from the Haute Joaillerie Collection. She also chose a bracelet from the Red Carpet Collection in 18-carat white gold set with diamonds (74.59 cts).
Lupita Nyong’o, another Oscar winner, chose a pair of earrings from the L’Heure Du Diamant Collection in 18-carat pink gold set with diamonds (7.86 cts), as well as a set of rings from the Ice Cube Collection in Fairmined-certified 18-carat pink gold set with diamonds.
The Chinese singer-songwriter G.E.M. shone on the red carpet with a necklace from the Green Carpet Collection in Fairmined-certified 18-carat white gold set with pear-cut diamonds (43.11 cts), a pair of earrings from the Precious Chopard Collection in 18-carat white gold set with 2 pear-cut diamonds (5.13cts and 5.01cts) and diamonds (7.72cts), a ring from the Haute Joaillerie Collection in 18-carat white gold set with a pear-cut diamond (4.41 cts) and diamonds (1.37 ct), as well as three rings from the Ice Cube Collection in 18-carat Fairmined-certified white set with diamonds.
For her live musical performance, G.E.M. chose an 18-carat white gold necklace set with pear-cut diamonds (22.98 cts), round-cut diamonds (17.13cts) and diamonds (5.64 cts), a pair of earrings in 18-carat white gold set with 2 round-cut diamonds (5.01cts and 5.00 cts) and diamonds (0.79cts), an 18-carat white gold ring set with a pear-cut diamond (4.41cts) and diamonds (1.37 ct), all from the Haute Joaillerie Collectionshe also wore three rings from the Ice Cube Collection in 18-carat Fairmined-certified white set with diamonds.
