The Mama Shelter adventure began in 2008 with the opening of Mama Shelter Paris. Its founders, the Trigano family (co-founders of Club Med), and Philippe Starck, stated from the outset that they would install MAMAs in places where a singular history of the world was being written.
Claiming the freedom to choose only by heart, they have therefore sought new locations, where they could express their ideal of an atypical, eccentric, participatory and unique place to live.
After Paris, they went on to Marseilles, Lyon, Bordeaux, Los Angeles, Belgrade and Prague to write this unprecedented vision. They chose cities capable of embracing their dream of generous, overflowing hospitality. Cities that, while showcasing their rich heritage, are resolutely looking to the future. Cities where they can live their ideal of peaceful humanity.
When you arrive in Prague, you won’t know where to turn. You’ll want to touch the tip of every spire with your fingertips, stroll through the capital’s winding cobbled streets, gaze in awe at the impressive stone edifice of St. Vitus Cathedral, walk briskly up to Prague Castle, then nimbly back down to Old Town Square, study the faces of all the saints adorning the 800-year-old St. Charles Bridge, drink a beer (or two) on every street corner.

Mama Loves Prague!
Mama Shelter is a hotel, of course, because everyone needs a bed to rest in, but MAMA embodies our ideal of hospitality, which means much more than just a minibar and a pillow. MAMA is a sanctuary that remains open to all, an oasis that vibrates with the same energy as this constantly bustling city. We want all the diverse characters who make Prague so extraordinary to know that this city is not just for night owls and student tourists, but also for living, working, having fun, chatting and partying before returning to MAMA in the early hours of the morning.

“We want to make room for the writers, fashionable poets and psychedelic rock bands of today’s Prague, inviting them to mingle happily and freely with all curious travelers, in the bubbling bath of a city bustling with a crazy effervescence.
MAMA will take good care of you, with the very best to welcome you in an intimate and comfortable setting, offering you the freedom to forget the daily grind. And because MAMA loves you, a home-cooked meal awaits you around a long table where everyone can find their place in our vast 300-seat restaurant. Wood-fired pizzas, family-style dishes, classic coffee, to be enjoyed before or after a frenzied game of table soccer… And with all the delicious Czech pastries, and local beer, you’re ready to bite into life in Prague.

The clean lines of our hotel, a masterpiece by architect Zdenek Edel, rise above Stromovka Park, Prague’s largest, created in the 13th century. In this dazzling symbol of Czech optimism in the 1960s, right next to this venerable green space, MAMA Shelter Prague awaits you with its 238 rooms. Mama Medium (18 m2), Large Mama (25 m2) or Mama XXL (44 m2), there’s something for everyone. These intimate retreats are as comfortable as a home away from home, equipped with all the digital conveniences, including gigantic king-size beds and high-speed wi-fi. Lie back in pure satin sheets and immerse yourself free of charge in our extensive and varied film library, your skin refreshed and softened by Absolution’s natural MAMA SKIN soaps and lotions. With six meeting rooms and spacious outdoor areas, you can collaborate, create or simply relax.
From its ten floors of rooms and endless terrace, MAMA invites you to contemplate the red roofs and ancient castles of the Golden City. Just a ten-minute streetcar ride (stop at the foot of our building) from the Old Town, Mama Shelter Prague is conveniently located: just far enough away from the flood of tourists, but only a few steps from the National Gallery at the Exhibition Centre, which houses works of art from the 19th and 20th centuries on seven floors, and not far from DOX, the Czech Republic’s most important center for contemporary art.
A 15-minute stroll will take you to Prague’s thriving farmers’ market and flea market, popular with locals and travelers alike. At night, you can stroll a few blocks to surprise your retina and brain with an independent film at the BIO / OKO cinema, or listen to music in the dazzling industrial setting of the Cross Club. Whether the night is just beginning or ending with a bang, the lounge is open to travelers and locals alike, who can sway to concerts and DJ sets, drink in hand, lively conversation on their lips.
The legendary founder of Prague, Princess Libuše, ancestor of the Czech people, is said to have predicted the birth of this incredible metropolis: “I see a vast city, whose glory will reach to the stars!
So are we. The experiment launched in Paris continues in Prague. MAMA has found a sister in this other city of light, this metropolis that is constantly developing and changing, that makes history while at the same time freeing itself from it.
Who wouldn’t want to be here?
