Spring-Summer 2018 Collection
Dazzling graphics, incendiary colors, energetic black and white and subtle
contrasts… For Summer 2018 Delvaux sets course for Africa and its creative vigor outside
the norm, where tribal accents, desert heat and colors lining the
spice route, such as Saffron and Paprika, mingle with winks and reminiscences
of modern Western art. The result is an ambitious collection, made
of powerful and singular hybridizations.
Ethiopia, an abstract painting
The Ethiopia line has evolved from traditional body ornamentation, into which
a few motifs escaped from the geometrically rich
painting of Sonia Delaunay or Alexander Calder, and features
bold, tonic graphic compositions. The omnipresent color of the
season, Ebony rubs shoulders with Ivory and Black, or plays with Paprika, Turquoise,
Saffron and Nakuru pink for a multicolored escape.
Tanzania, à fleur de peau
Like precious stones inserted under the leather like a compass rose,
the Tanzania animation revisits the world of jewelry like scarifications.
The Delvaux craftsmen inject silicone under the cut leather to ensure perfect
relief.
N’débélé, the chromatic force
The iconic richness of the chromatic compositions adorning the homes of the
N’débélé peoples has given rise to the eponymous models, which are ingenious at
multiplying the graphic interplay of seemingly limitless combinations.
Ebony is combined with Saffron, Paprika, pink
Nakuru and Turquoise with both rigor and fantasy.
Tribal Stitch, when couture rhymes with adornment
Inspired by the infinite inventiveness of African women’s braided hairstyles, Tribal
Stitch requires the most meticulous craftsmanship, since each stitch of a fine
strip of Calf Souple or Calf Métal must be carefully worked through
the leather as if it were a fine skin to be embroidered.
Two combinations are available, in Ebony-Ivory-Black or Black-Bronze.
