The ‘Only Watch’ charity auction unveiled its 2017 collection of unique pieces back in July, but this summer announcement may have gone unnoticed. So here’s the lowdown on our contribution to the sale: the HM8 Only Watch with Cassandra Legendre.
Like other MB&F Only Watch pieces, the HM8 Only Watch is the fruit of an artistic collaboration – and this year, the collaboration takes on its full meaning with an artist of the same age as the children helped by the Only Watch association: Cassandra Legendre is just 15 years old.
Based on the HM8 Can-Am, this unique piece in white gold and titanium is instantly recognizable thanks to its sapphire crystal, engraved and metallized with a drawing by Cassandra Legendre. It features a robot, a plane, a car, a jellyfish… all visual cues found in MB&F creations that resonate universally with children.
Visible below the illustration, the HM8 automatic movement features a violet rotor. The lateral hour and minute display is accompanied by a miniature elephant in white gold; a sculpture created by engraver Olivier Kuhn, who interpreted the elephant in Cassandra’s design in three dimensions.
As a final touch, the MB&F logo – previously engraved on the circular plate at the back of the watch – has been replaced by a smiley face, a nod to the playful dimension that Legendre brings to this unique HM8.
