3rd IMPERIAL JUBILEE
September 23 – 24, 2017 in Rueil-Malmaison

Since 2012, the town of Rueil-Malmaison, at the initiative of the “Ville Impériale” brand, has been offering to relive the history of Napoleon and Josephine through the Imperial Jubilee. This third edition will celebrate the 210th anniversary of the Treaty of Tilsit between Emperor Napoleon 1st and Tsar Alexander 1st.

For two days, thanks to the mobilization of numerous sponsors, a number of cultural events will immerse visitors in the era of Josephine and Napoleon, the mythical couple who left their mark on the history of the town of Rueil-Malmaison. Workshops, shows, re-enactments, brass bands, exhibitions, stands, extras and a parade… the town will be beating to the heart of the First Empire.

Weekend highlights:Europe’s largest brass band concert:
6 brass bands will perform together on the occasion of the Jubilee, playing the most beautiful marches of the Empire:
– Les Grenadiers Fribourgeois (Fribourg brass band)
– La Garde Impériale de Genève
– La fanfare de Villingen (Germany)
– La Garde Impériale de Dijon
– La fanfare d’Altkirch (Alsace)
– Les Pipes & Drums (Poland)

Followed by fireworksThe grand imperial parade:
This year’s Grande Parade Impériale will see over 2,000 people march past, making
the largest parade in Europe. For the occasion, the RD913 will be completely closed to accommodate the parade of 600 soldiers, Napoleon, Josephine, the Tsar, the King of Prussia, the King of Saxony, the Tsar’s and Napoleon’s staffs, Josephine’s Court, 100 horsemen… not to mention the exceptional presence of the Garde Républicaine.
Never before seen in Europe!
Sunday September 24 at 11:30 am on the RD913A spectacular reconstruction of the Treaty of Tilsit:
This third edition will celebrate the 210th anniversary of the Treaty of Tilsit between Emperor Napoleon I and Tsar Alexander I. Signed in secret on July 7, 1807, during a meeting on a raft in the middle of the River Niemen, this agreement put an end to the Fourth European Coalition’s war against France. Rueil Malmaison will recreate this great moment in European history
with a spectacular staging on the Etang de Saint-Cucufa.
