The Kingdom of Bahrain currently attracts just over 19,000 French visitors a year, mainly in the business segment. The Bahrain Tourism & Exhibition Authority (BTEA) has undertaken a strategy to develop the leisure segment in the French market by 2018. The BTEA is focusing its efforts on highlighting the kingdom’s cultural assets as a real added value, as well as on its luxurious yet accessible hotel offer, which is constantly expanding.
Over the past three years, Bahrain’s hotel offering has expanded with the opening of 5 new 4 and 5-star hotels: The Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, instantly recognizable thanks to its emblematic “H” shape, the Downtown Rotana, the Westin Bahrain and the Meridian Hotel Bahrain located in the heart of the capital Manama, as well as the ART Rotana Amwaj Island and its sea view!
Bahrain currently boasts over 190 hotels and resorts (including 18 5* hotels and 56 4* hotels) for a total of more than 16,500 hotel beds, which will be complemented by 15 new resorts and 4 or 5-star hotels by 2022, giving the archipelago a capacity of 20,000 beds, representing a total investment of over 10 billion dollars. Here’s a sneak preview of our current projects:
The “luxury” plus: Located on the seafront in the Seef district to the northwest of the capital Manama, the One&Only Resort is preparing to welcome its first guests at the end of 2017. Bordered by a long private beach, the resort will offer upscale services: 150 accommodations divided between standard rooms, suites and villas with private pools; restaurants featuring world cuisines and a One&OnlySpa. This new resort will bring a whole new range of “ultra-luxury” offerings to the archipelago.
The “business” plus: Located in the heart of the capital Manama’s business district, the 260-room, 5-star Wyndham Grand Manama hotel will be housed in the United Tower, with its iconic twisted octagonal shape, and will offer visitors an exceptional 360-degree view of the archipelago. A 500-square-meter conference space, work rooms, five restaurants and indoor and outdoor swimming pools will complete the offering of the hotel, which plans to open its doors in late 2017.
The most “economical”: The Accor hotel chain will inaugurate its new Ibis Styles Maname Diplomatic. The hotel will offer 95 rooms, including 24 suites, and a range of services adapted for conferences and business events. With its simple yet unique design, Ibis Styles offers an all-inclusive hotel experience and the highest level of comfort in its category, to meet the growing expectations of leisure and business guests keen to stay in the district of embassies, ministries, banks and other institutions.
The most “entertaining”: the brand-new The Address Marassi Al Bahrain hotel will be part of a new sustainable city to be built in Manama in 2020: Marassi Al Bahrain. Ideally located on the seafront, the hotel will offer 120 rooms and 20 suites with top-of-the-range services. Next door, the Vida Marassi Al Bahrain will offer 145 family apartments with 1-3 bedrooms, swimming pools, gyms, spas and rooftop terraces. Both hotels will offer direct access to the private beach and shopping center at the heart of this new sustainable city. Indeed, the Marassi Al Bahrain complex will set an example in terms of energy efficiency, waste reduction and energy consumption, thanks to its innovative design and meticulous urban planning. Opening is scheduled for 2020.
Between now and 2020, various establishments will be delivered, including the Hilton Bahrain Bay Hotel & Residences , positioned on the main avenue of the capital Manama, the Fairmont Bahrain Resort, offering 215 luxurious rooms and chalets for leisure and business customers, and the opening of the Al Jazeera Pullman BahrainHotel, which will complete the offer of the Accor hotel group, which already has 4 hotels on the archipelago: Ibis SeefManama, Mercure Grand Hotel Seef, Novotel Bahrain Al Dana Resort and Sofitel Bahrain ZallaqThalassa Sea & Spa , the region’s only thalassotherapy center.
