This weekend, 2,127 poker players gathered at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris for the launch of the Winamax Poker Tour (WiPT) live stages. For the 6th year running, this was the biggest live poker gathering ever held in France! At the end of two days of competition, 42 players secured their free qualification for the WiPT grand final, to be held at Cercle Clichy Montmartre in March 2017.
In all, 2,127 participants competed over two days in the company of Team Winamax pros and a number of celebrities, including Pascal Sellem, Alain Bouzigues, Fred Chau and Moundir. It was also an opportunity for the public to welcome the winner of the 2015/2016 edition, Cyril Georges, who is putting his title back on the line!
Over the course of this great weekend of poker festivities, more than 200 players were rewarded, with 42 of them winning their free qualification for the WiPT final, scheduled for March 2017. Team Pro Winamax Gaëlle Baumann also won her ticket to the final thanks to this freeroll stage.

Poker as you’ve never seen it before
Alongside the main tournament, a host of events ensured that players had an unforgettable weekend. From the spectacular kick-off by Patrick Bruel, an army of cheerleaders and the Mike/Riké duo from Sinsémilia, to the musical sets by luxury DJs Ophélie Mercury and DJ James.
On the poker side: side events, iPad tournaments, consolation tournaments, not forgetting the many opportunities to meet up at the numerous sit & go events hosted by the Winamax Pro Team.
Players were also able to enjoy an exclusive screening of the Winamax series ” Dans la Tête d’Un Pro ” filmed during the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, a Winamax merchandise showroom and the Sports Bar, where sports betting and match broadcasts were the order of the day. There was also a photo exhibition by Caroline Darcourt, Double Jeu, and a Beer Pong tournament once the poker tournament was over!
Finally, players who couldn’t make the trip were able to follow the tournament live via Winamax’s Twitch streaming channel!

The Paris stage is now over, but the Winamax Poker Tour is just getting started! See you on the roads of France, with 45 stages organized in 32 French cities between November 2016 and January 2017. . More than 10,000 players are expected to take part in these regional tournaments: the best of them will qualify free of charge for the Tour’s grand final, scheduled for March at the Cercle Clichy-Montmartre, where Winamax guarantees 500,000 euros in prize money. The last WiPT final attracted 1,389 players, with Cyril Georges emerging victorious, taking home nearly 105,000 euros!
