The exhibition, which highlights the designer’s famous jewelry, will run from May 28 to July 28, 2015, at Galerie Elsa Vanier.
The lion’s share of Jean Grisoni’s creations are rings and chains. It was while creating his first piece of jewelry in 1989, on the bangs of his world as a designer and image creator, that Jean Grisoni discovered ancient coins and was captivated by the modernity and graphic radicalism of Gallic coins. He decided to turn them into jewelry.
This was the start of a jewelry adventure, and more specifically the creation of rings and chains, a passion that continues to this day.
This exhibition presents a collection of jewelry with a strong, intriguing allure. The most delicate pieces stand side by side with chains evoking iron and hard work.
As the designer so aptly puts it: “The creation and hand-crafting of each link, one by one, then the swaddling of each one in a decided rhythm, in controlled proportions, in a controlled aesthetic, give me a sensual, artisanal pleasure that I’d never known before.”
For 25 years, Jean Grisoni has always had a chain on the fire! Iron links salvaged from Mediterranean ports, gold links forged in his workshop, coral branches and antique pearls are never far from his jeweler’s tools. Accompanying the exhibition is a book of photographs to help visitors better understand Jean Grisoni’s passion for creating his chains.
