Spreckels

You can’t miss the Spreckels frame by Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm. This oversized model, inspired by American surfing legend Bunker Spreckels, draws on the shape and colors worn by the “style king” of surfers.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Bunker Spreckels was an exceptional surfer, who died aged just 27, leaving behind many stories and legends. At the age of 20, he adopted a rock’n’roll lifestyle: low-slung leather pants and large, thickly contoured plastic glasses that defined the style of an era, and were characteristic of his eccentric look.
The seventies frame by Mykita & Bernhard Willhelm takes its name from this idol. The rounded silhouette of its face, with stretched sides, gives the wearer a weary, melancholy allure. The glasses are available in three colors for summer 2015: Beige/White with orange-black lenses, Dark Green/White with green lenses and Smoke/Black with black lenses.

Spreckels will be available throughout summer 2015 in Mykita boutiques, on the brand’s e-shop and in selected opticians and concept stores.
