At Giles, romance always rubs shoulders with the darker, even gothic side. Black has pride of place, as do bow ties, in cape coats and body-hugging dresses, all worn over frilled shirts. Then comes a much more sophisticated tye & dye print, inspired by certain paintings admired by Giles Deacon. Volume takes center stage, with large skirts worn over slim waists. It takes a lot of personality to wear Giles’ signature pieces, hence the judicious choice of models, from Jessica Stam to Aymeline Valade, Kendall Jenner to Erin O’Connor, not forgetting the final strapless gown, all pleated and highlighted by Anna Cleveland. Of note: the make-up: pale complexion and very dark, almost black lips, a trend already noticed in New York.
