Today, discover the Cinq Mondes spa in Paris, a true haven of peace in the heart of the capital.
For those who don’t know Cinq Mondes, it’s a cosmetics brand created by a French globe trotter, Jean-Louis Poiroux, who after touring the world decided to draw inspiration from the beauty rituals of different continents to sublimate women.
I tested the Sublime de Polynésie massage at the Cinq Monde spa. A massage inherited from the healers of Polynesia, and inspired by Lomi-Lomi, using pressure and long, continuous movements of the practitioner’s forearms.
After drinking a cup of tea and washing my hands with an oshibori, I set off to discover this treatment. Slow movements, strong pressure, a hot stone on my back and I was ready to relax. The music is soothing, the light is subdued, you feel at ease and you can really let go, and escape to Polynesia for the duration of the treatment.
The heated table was just perfect for this cold day, and the massage really did me good. Since Cinq Mondes products aren’t greasy or sticky, I didn’t have to shower immediately after the massage, which kept my skin moisturized and delicately scented before the evening bath.
It’s rare for me to return to the same spa twice, as I always like to discover new ones, but I have to say that I’d love to go back to the Cinq Monde spa, as it has a very special atmosphere and you feel as if you’re in a bubble. What I also really like is the wide choice of treatments from all over the world. Next time I’ll try the Siam Ritual (Thailand) and why not the Japanese “KobiDo” ritual.
