We met the Jonak team for the launch of their new Spring/Summer 2015 collection. We can finally tell you that we’re going to shine for the sunny days.

Marie Oger, Jonak’s artistic director, has concocted a collection that smells of sunshine, freedom and bohemia.

At the time of our meeting, she had organized a tea time in line with the theme of her new Hippie chic collection. So we wanted to find out more about this woman of taste!

S.Garcia-Montull: How long have you been working as a designer for Jonak?

Marie Oger: I’ve had an atypical career: I joined the JONAK brand 25 years ago, and have held several positions simultaneously (Sales, Purchasing and Supply Management, among others). As the company grew, I moved on to the position of Style Director, given my artistic flair and passion for fashion. Today, all these years give me the privilege of having “carte blanche” when it comes to designing the collection, even if I sometimes get into trouble with my best collaborator, and not the least, our CEO, who shares my passion for the “product”.

S.Garcia-Montull: How does the design process work at Jonak? Do you have carte blanche?

Marie Oger: I design our collections based on luxury trends (shape, heel, sole, pattern, material, etc.) to which I personally adhere, and reinterpret them to suit our customers.

S.Garcia-Montull: How did you come up with the idea for this new collection? What were your influences and/or sources of inspiration?

Marie Oger: My sources of inspiration for this summer were, among others, GUCCI, MARNI, PRADA, MIU MIU and MARC JACOBS, who have brought the 60s and 70s up to date.

S.Garcia-Montull: If you had to choose an essential from the new collection on a desert island, which would it be?

Marie Oger: If I had to recommend an essential model for going to a “desert island” apart from “barefoot”, it would be the mule with a revisited ergonomic sole: 2 wide crossed straps for “top style” and comfort, in silver or gold glazed leather for the “glamorous” touch.

A spring/summer collection not to be missed if you want to make a splash in life, and especially on the road!
