Y/Project: Belgian Glenn Martens offers a very nineties silhouette, yet one rooted in the present. At the helm of Y/Project for the past year, Belgian Glenn Martens offers a very nineties silhouette, yet one rooted in the present. The nonchalant allure of loose-fitting garments, such as long coats with dropped shoulders and baggy pants, fades behind the techno-sportswear spirit of latex, Lycra and vinyl. The designer reminds us that the urban man in a hurry also likes to party with sparkle, in a total look or by choosing an adjustable collar as an accessory. The rigor of the fitted cuts, explained by Glenn Martens’ architectural background, is combined with the softness of the materials and the originality of the details, such as the metal disks and teeth/horns that act as buttons. Note the elasticated waistband on pants, and the pleats on shirts, for suppleness and comfort.
